Matthew Donald Cassidy was first introduced to photography by his father, Albert, who was an Associated Screen News photographer in Montreal, Canada during late 1940s.

Born in the town of Gaspé, Quebec Canada, Matthew’s early memories include being "baby-sat" by his Dad in his darkroom, and accompanying him on outings where he and his siblings were often used as props in the postcard photos Albert took of the Gaspé coast.

Two of Matthew’s older brothers carry on the family photography business in Gaspé today.

Trained as a Classical 5 - Element Acupuncturist, his affinity for nature is reflected in his work.

His photos are not digitally altered - he photographs what we all see, but seldom notice.

"With his fine sense of composition, Matthew can focus on ordinary parts of the world and make them special.

He notices things that many other eyes would ignore,  giving his photography a refreshing and inspirational quality.

His subject matter is diverse adding a fresh perspective  on whatever he points his camera at."
